MLB trade rumors: Mets willing to deal stars as season falls apart

Is your team in search of a quality outfielder or a decent late-inning arm? Well if they are then look no further than the New York Mets because the team is reportedly selling on several of their best assets as their season falls apart.

The disappointing Mets (31-41) entered Friday’s game 12 games behind the NL East-leading leading Nationals and 14 1/2 games behind the Rockies for the second wild card. The results? A pending fire sale.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the Mets are looking to sell on several big names other than Yoenis Cespedes before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Notably absent from the list as well is Matt Harvey, who is under contract until 2018, but has been a disappointment on and off the field this year.
Authentic Kids Vincent Rey Jersey
For now the names the Mets are shopping are Curtis Granderson (.225, 9 HR), Jay Bruce (.269, 19 HR), Asdrubal Cabrera (.244, 6 HR) and Addison Reed (2.72 ERA, 11 saves).

This group will be the biggest obstacle for what Shanahan wants to accomplish offensively in Year 1, but it’s bound to be improved from last season. Left tackle Joe Staley is near the end of the line. He turns 33 in August but is getting a chance to rebound from his pass protection struggles. Right guard Josh Garnett, a 2016 first-rounder, is the top rebuilding block.

As for the rest, former Ravens starter Jeremy Zuttah (31 in June) adds some respectability and stability. He or Daniel Kilgore, their best lineman from last season, will start at center, with the other kicking to left guard to replace ineffective Zane Beadles. Although third-year man Trent Brown has some upside at right tackle, the 49ers will try to bring out his youthful best in a competition with former Seahawk Garry Gilliam. It was more duct tape than overhaul around Garnett, so offensive line remains a major work in progress.

Most teams would be lost and clueless to adjust without that kind of game-changer.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Blount go back to pounding away in the AFC championship game, with Lewis in the change-of-pace role. It wouldn’t be shocking if somehow White stays on the field for an extended period, either.

The Patriots will enjoy figuring out to keep whoever they play the Steelers or the Chiefs guessing which back will be deployed, how, where and when. It gets even more complicated as Edelman and Bennett occupy short-to-intermediate attention, too.

With Gronkowski, everyone knew what was coming, and he still wasn’t stopped often. There went the behemoth rumbling downfield, using his bruising-but-athletic body to outrun and out-muscle you at the same time.

Most teams would be lost and clueless to adjust without that kind of game-changer. The Patriots aren’t most teams. They simply spread out what they had with Gronk.

Blount is the big, cruising bruiser when needed. A healthy Lewis gives them little and fast to drive linebackers and safeties crazy in coverage. White has that knack to slip free in the red zone, ala Gronk working to get open.

Are there better players in the NFL That’s an almost impossible assessment to make. There might be a strong safety or right guard who performs his duties closer to perfection. But no one made a greater difference in how the 2016 regular season played out than Elliott.

You may not think a running back should be named MVP, but you have to admit it would be cool to hand the trophy to a dude named Ezekiel.sharks_454

NBA Finals 2017: Cavs coach Tyronn Lue says Warriors ‘best he’s ever seen’

Tyronn Lue was at the helm of the Cavaliers when they fought back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Warriors in last year’s NBA Finals.

He was in his first full season as the Cavaliers coach as the Cavs split with the new-look Warriors, who added Kevin Durant in the offseason. The series split included a 126-91 loss to the Warriors at Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

Sources: As teams become aware Phil Jackson isn’t ruling out possibility of trading Kristaps Porzingis, frenzy of interest is growing today.

Jackson has also said recently Porzingis is not ready to be the team’s leader, and the two have yet to define a role for Porzingis, who averaged 4.8 3-point attempts per game this season. Jackson would like to see him play in the post more often.

Porzingis, 21, is owed just $10.2 million over the next two years, per terms of his contract.

Limited Youth Michael Jordan Jersey Porzingis is currently in Europe with the Latvian national team preparing for this summer’s European championships, a move he did not discuss with the Knicks. While the team cannot prohibit a player from competing in international competition, Porzingis had respected the Knicks’ wishes and not played for the Latvian team the past two summers.

With Jackson eyeing Lauri Markkanen, a 7-foot Finn with a similar game to Porzingis’, it appears the Latvian’s days in New York could be numbered.

NBA Finals 2017: Scuffle breaks out as LeBron James approaches tunnel after Game 2

Fans in Oakland showed more fight than the Cavs did in the second half of NBA Finals Game 2 against the Warriors. And it all happened right in front of LeBron James.

From the video below, it looks as though a spectator maybe was trying to engage Cavs backup forward Derrick Williams (EDIT: The incident started before Williams approached). LeBron and J.R. Smith rolled up on the scene just as things got really heated.

Smith executed his best boxout in a long time as he tried to steer James away from the action.

Tani Tupou Elite Jersey James and Smith got to the locker room unharmed. Now they’ll focus on trying to counterpunch the Warriors, who lead the best-of-seven series two games to none. Game 3 is Wednesday in Cleveland.

Tyler Zeller sighting!

The Celtics announce that Jae Crowder suffered a strained left thigh and is availabe to return.

So what can we draw from Ball’s comments? He could see Russell as someone who doesn’t compete with him, but the more likely scenario is he’s echoing comments he heard from the front office. He had met with team president Magic Johnson, coach Luke Walton and general manager Rob Pelinka and the impression he came away with was that they’re still looking for a leader.

It’s also important to keep in mind Russell recently liked an anti-Lonzo Ball tweet. The harmless action could mean nothing, but we can’t discount it entirely.

the Steelers have fallen hard in the previous three meetings.

Tomlin, however, has proved he’s not a cheerleader, but rather a button-pushing master motivator. It takes a certain brand of fearlessness and brashness for a team to take down Belichick’s with so much at stake. Many Patriots opponents show early signs of intimidation and never have a chance.

Tomlin is taking a little from John Harbaugh and Rex Ryan two guys who have had some limited-but-key success against the Patriots and taking it to the next level.

The two times Tomlin’s Steelers have made it to the Super Bowl in his previous nine seasons, it didn’t require going through New England. It also has been a dozen years since, pre-Tomlin, the Patriots faced the Steelers in the playoffs.

But since that point, New England has gone 6-2 in the series, and one of those losses came without Tom Brady. With Tomlin at the helm, the Steelers have fallen hard in the previous three meetings.

Baalke, his choices and the rift between him and ex-coach Jim Harbaugh that couldn’t be healed made the move inevitable.

Once again, though, owner and CEO Jed Yorks fingerprints are all over this crime scene and, again, hes not going to fire himself.

Both got and deserved the credit for the sudden success the 49ers had from 2011-13, when they went to three straight NFC championship games and that narrow Super Bowl XLVII loss to the Ravens. Feud with Harbaugh or not, hiring him was one of the most inspired coaching moves this decade, if not the most inspired.

Pushing him out, of course, has been one of the worst in hindsight, and it looked that way in real time, too. But the personnel and coaching decisions since then were just as devastating.

Official gets Super Bowl nod after Travis Kelce said he shouldn’t work at Foot Locker

Carl Cheffers, the referee Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce deemed as unfit to work at Foot Locker, is part of the officiating crew assigned to Super Bowl LI, according to

Andrew Cashner Authentic Jersey Kelce was highly critical of the officials following a 18-16 loss to the Steelers on Sunday. Specifically, he ripped into Cheffers for calling a holding penalty on Chiefs tackle Eric Fisher, negating a successful two-point conversion that would have tied the game at 18-18 with under three minutes remaining.

It hurts. You fight all year, you fight all game, for it to end like that, for the ref to take it ot of our hands, that hurts, Kelce told reporters after the season-ending loss. You try to play this game with integrity and to the end of the whistle. When the refs wants to take over the game and make it their own platform, there’s nothing you can do about it.

He signed for a few of the guys he knew and I asked him for an autograph and he looked me in the eyes and said NO. I get it if you gotta go or can’t do it at the time but at least say sorry kid I can’t do it right now. I wanted to box him. Now that I’m in the league I know that there is a time and a place for everything and you can’t get to everyone but he was just RUDE.

While Smith may not have beef with Theisman, he clearly remembers the negative encounter from all those years ago.

Bills owner details how Rex Ryan firing went down

There’s something to be said for being direct. In Rex Ryan’s case, it hastened his departure as Bills head coach.

Kids Dan Hampton Jersey In an interview with The Associated Press, team owner Terry Pegula said it was an executive decision to fire Ryan during a Dec. 27 conference call that also included general manager Doug Whaley.
Kids Matthew Dellavedova Jersey
Pegula said at the end of the call Ryan asked to speak with the owner privately. When Ryan asked specifically about his future, Pegula decided to pull the plug on Ryan’s tenure in Buffalo.
I was asked a point-blank question and based on the discussions we’ve been having all year, I felt it was better to tell Rex that we were going in a different direction, Pegula told the AP.

Whaley, who was retained by the owner, said Monday at a news conference that he was unaware of Ryan’s fate when he left the call something Pegula confirmed to AP.

The last play: Russell Wilson threw a 35-yard pass to Jermaine Kearse for a walk-off win in overtime. I did not know it was Kearse who caught the ball until just now, because I’ve only watched the play the one time.

Who I yelled at most: Wilson. Oh, I loved the four-interception, five-sack meltdown. This was all residual effects of the ‘Fail Mary.’

True story: I asked my future father-in-law for permission to marry his daughter the day before the game then tried to be on my best behavior while watching the game with those in-laws. They left shortly after all the multi-syllable choice words I had for all-things Giants after Donald Driver’s 90-yard TD reception in the second quarter. I didn’t have time to worry about that.

Koda Glover hurts back in shower, didn’t tell team

Nationals closer Koda Glover says he hurt his back in the shower before Saturday’s game, but he didn’t tell the team.

Over the past two seasons, Jean has been one of the premier offensive players in baseball, Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said. His combination of average, power and speed is extremely difficult to find, especially as a top-of-the-lineup hitter at a key defensive position like shortstop. We are all quite excited about having him here with the Mariners and believe he is a key ingredient in our ongoing effort to build a championship level roster.

The details of the deal, initially reported by MLB Network and confirmed by the Seattle Times, were reported by Z 101 in Segura’s native Dominican Republic and reportedly includes a $17 million option for 2023.

Amsinger was a college kid with the college TV station, and though I don’t think we ever officially met, I remember it was clear he had the voice and persona to be a big-time broadcaster. Our paths crossed from time to time, particularly after Swarm games. The Swarm was part of the short-lived International Basketball League, and they were a damn good team led by long-time NBA man Bernie Bickerstaff as the coach and a roster sprinkled with former NBA guys. The Swarm won the only two IBL titles ever handed out (in 2000 and 2001) before the league merged with the CBA.

32 teams have to leave whatever hard feelings they had of Young behind.

The super-agent has been back in the elite quarterback business for a couple years now (he represented Paxton Lynch in last year’s draft and has Pat Mahomes as a client for this year’s). Steinberg’s standing in the business was based on not dealing with clowns and knuckleheads.

Young has been both before. But observers taking note of his announcement of Young hiring him sent a message that Young may have left those days behind.

Next: 32 teams have to leave whatever hard feelings they had of Young behind. If they have … then they’d have to realize there are far worse options, some of which were in uniform last season.

Gase’s rising star as a “quarterback whisperer” guaranteed that would be his only year in Chicago, before being elevated to head coach and trying to tame Ryan Tannehill in ’16. Although Tannehill improved in some ways — throwing deeper downfield, making smarter decisions with the ball — his struggles with pressure still were there. In the end, while showing a higher ceiling, Tannehill’s play and production were closer to his floor.

In relation, Cutler was a much better Gase pupil, going away from many of his long-established bad habits. Tannehill’s development more inched along like it has since he entered the league.

Or does Fox censor Gaga by cutting to commercial? Or hit the mute button? Staying on the air might for another celebrity political rant might equally outrage fans who don’t want to hear about politics during the biggest sporting event of the year. The NFL’s passive acceptance of protesting political players such as Colin Kaepernick outraged some hard-core football fans who launched a #BoycottNFL movement this season. While the networks showed Kaepernick and other players kneeling during the national anthem at the start of the season, they gradually phased those shots out of their game telecasts.

Consider Chicago a long shot and Cleveland the favorite, but San Francisco is just right.

Lynch and Shanahan will be willing to be aggressive in their first signature move together. Garoppolo is the least risk-adverse move in relation to Kaepernick or a rookie, and he comes with a greater, quicker reward.

The 49ers have the balance of being able to give up enough and still have the necessary picks for the rebuild ahead. Every QB should be want to work with Shanahan after 2016, and Garoppolo is too good of a fit with him to pass up.

Green Bay would love a top tight end or more help for its offensive line, but Williams could finally give Jordy Nelson some help on the outside and eventually take over his mantle as Aaron Rodgers’ No. 1 receiver.

Willis may not be a heavily mocked first-rounder at this point, but after a strong Senior Bowl week and an expected impressive Combine, Willis should get more first-round buzz. The Steelers need more pass-rushers, even with Bud Dupree on the rise.
